CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Canadian corporation will open a division in Kanawha County next month and eventually bring 50 jobs to the area, Gov. Joe Manchin's office announced today.
J.D. Irving Ltd.'s first Equipment Division in the United States will create 15 jobs with a $20 million initial investment, according to a news release from the governor's office. The other jobs should be added within two years and will include engineers, mechanics and crane operators.
"This is a great and very environmentally responsible company that sets the standard for stewardship of its natural resources," Manchin said in the release. "The opening of this division is the beginning of what we confidently expect will be a long and mutually beneficial partnership."
James D. Irving, the company's chairman and president, said, "We are driven by fundamental values such as quality, service, innovation and the responsibility to make a positive difference in the communities where we work and live. We see the potential for future endeavors and investment in West Virginia."
