Police: Man shot while trying to steal beer

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Cross Lanes man was allegedly shot by a family member while trying to steal beer out of his refrigerator early this morning, police said.

The incident happened around 3 a.m. on Relation Road, off of Washington Street West, near Cross Lanes.

William "Eddie" Haynes, 24, of Cross Lanes was allegedly trying to steal cans of beer from the relative when he was shot in the leg, Kanawha Sheriff's Lt. Sean Crosier said in an e-mail.

Police did not say how William Haynes is related to the family member who shot him, 48-year-old Lawrence Haynes.

Sheriff's deputies later found William Haynes at his home, but he fled into the woods and was not located, Crosier said.

Police are still investigating the incident.

He's lucky that he was only shot in the leg... I bet he buys his own beer next time!

OVER BEER? OVER BEER no wonder we have the backwoods mentality to other folks.... folks don't think beer is worth shooting anyone over.... See the headline in NY, FL, CA.... Hillbilly Shoots 2nd Cousin Once Removed, But Married To His 1 Cousins Sister-In-Law Over Cheap Beer."
