CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Cross Lanes man was allegedly shot by a family member while trying to steal beer out of his refrigerator early this morning, police said.
The incident happened around 3 a.m. on Relation Road, off of Washington Street West, near Cross Lanes.
William "Eddie" Haynes, 24, of Cross Lanes was allegedly trying to steal cans of beer from the relative when he was shot in the leg, Kanawha Sheriff's Lt. Sean Crosier said in an e-mail.
Police did not say how William Haynes is related to the family member who shot him, 48-year-old Lawrence Haynes.
Sheriff's deputies later found William Haynes at his home, but he fled into the woods and was not located, Crosier said.
Police are still investigating the incident.
