Tri-State Racetrack & Gaming Center General Manager Cathy Brackbill has resigned.

Brackbill resigned from the Nitro gaming resort effective May 19, she confirmed today. "I don't intend to discuss it further at this time," she said.

Brackbill had worked at the racetrack for more than 11 years. She was the face associated with a lengthy public relations campaign to convince Kanawha County voters to approve table gaming at the racetrack.

Racetrack owners Hartman & Tyner Inc. plan a $250 million expansion project at the racetrack that includes a hotel, casino, parking facility and entertainment complex. After voters approved the expansion in August, Brackbill took an increasingly less public role as owners geared up for construction.

Hartman & Tyner vice-president Dan Adkins declined comment today. "I don't think commenting on employee matters is an appropriate thing to do," he said.

Track owners told officials for the state Lottery Commission this week that they hope to have poker tables up and running at the racetrack by August and other table games as early as September.
