Devin Ebanks, a blue-chip basketball recruit who formerly cast his lot with Indiana, will sign with West Virginia.
"He called me early this morning about 9 o'clock," said Ebanks' AAU coach Lawrence McGugins. "I said, 'What's the verdict?' He said, 'West Virginia.'
"He knows Coach [Bob] Huggins will push him to be aggressive... all the things Coach is know for.
"I think it's a good fit. It's pretty much like Indiana. He'll be the focal point. Nothing against the other kids [at WVU], but everyone knows he's a scorer.
"He likes all the coaches.''
Ebanks, from Queens, N.Y., is a 6-foot-9, 207-pound standout from St. Thomas More High. According to McGugins, he's a Kevin Durant-like wing player with a 7-foot-2 wing span.
"And he's only 18 years old," said the coach. "He'll grow and put on weight. He's a big guard."
Ebanks is expected, however, to play the small forward position in Morgantown.
"He can play wherever," McGugins said. "Perimeter is his game."
Ebanks plays AAU ball for Team Takeover.
