ELKINS — A former Elkins funeral home director has pleaded guilty to embezzling thousands of dollars from a prepaid funeral account.
Randolph County court records show that in exchange for Monday's plea, three other counts against Cheryl Runner Kittle were dropped.
A previous court order directs Kittle to repay the nearly $35,000 she took from customers of R.E. Runner Funeral Home who prepaid for their funerals. She also is permanently barred from selling such contracts.
Kittle's attorney, James E. Hawkins Jr. of Buckhannon, did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment Wednesday.
A sentencing date on the embezzlement charge has not yet been set.
