The Legislature appears ready to approve across-the-board raises of $1,600 for teachers and $700 for school service personnel.
A unanimous House voted Saturday to accept Senate changes to Gov. Joe Manchin's pay hike proposal.
The Senate must now pass the bill on to the governor before the session ends at midnight.
Manchin proposed a 3 percent pay hike for teachers, or between $722 and $1,514 depending on years of service or academic credentials.
Spokeswoman Lara Ramsburg says Manchin agrees with the Senate amendment, which also includes money for principals.
State education groups had requested more, but say the success of anti-bullying and pension fund proposals would make the final pay raise bill more palatable.
