Joe Dee Messina, the award-winning country singer, will be the headline act Saturday night at this year's Charleston Regatta, organizers announced Tuesday.
Messina will close out the "country night" concert Aug. 30 on the Regatta main stage along Kanawha Boulevard.
An R&B group, Morris Day and the Time, will open Regatta Thursday night, starting at about 9 p.m. on the main stage.
The annual four-day festival, which runs from Aug. 28 to Aug. 31, also includes tradition events like the Taste of Charleston (Saturday and Sunday), the Saturday evening Funeral Parade with the Pinstripe Brass Band and the Grand Feature Parade Saturday morning.
