Prep football roundup: Wasonga (239 yards) leads Point past Chapmanville
Allan Wasonga picked up 239 yards of total offense and rushed for two touchdowns, but it was his defensive play that saved the day as Point Pleasant (7-3) downed Chapmanville 17-7 at Point Pleasant in high school football Friday night.
With the Black Knights leading 10-7 late in the game, Chapmanville was threatening to score the go-ahead touchdown, but Wasonga picked off Todd Terry's pass at the Point Pleasant one-yard line to deny the Tigers, who are ranked No. 4 in Class AA.
The victory gives Point Pleasant, which entered the game ranked No. 10 in Class AA, the Cardinal Conference championship.
