Clinton to endorse Barth for the House Friday at UC

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Sen. Hillary Clinton is returning to West Virginia for a campaign stop, this time to endorse fellow Democrat Anne Barth.

The former first lady is scheduled to stump for Barth on Friday at the University of Charleston. The rally is free and open to the public.

Clinton last visited West Virginia just before her overwhelming win in the state's May presidential primary.

Shelley Capito directly contradicted the expressed will of the WV legislature when in 2004 they had legislated to seek methods of negotiating lower prescription drug prices for all West Virginians. The Veterans Administration had already been successfully negotiating lower drug prices for veterans for years. Yet during the 110th Congress, Capito voted in lockstep with Bush's rubber stamping Repubs to defeat House Resolution 4 (HR 4).

On 1/18/07 she voted in lockstep time after time blocking fellow West Virginian Nick Rahall's efforts to repeal a huge corporate tax break that oil and gas firms had been getting since '04. In that series of votes, again, with her fellow Repubs, she clearly demonstrated her party's refusal to take that $13 billion to $15 billion in revenues the tax break repeal would've produced and set the money aside for appropriations that would go to renewable resources.

Why has she become a corporate-loving DC insider?

Barth, if you really are what all of Capito and (R) Manchin's negative adds say you are, then you are worth voting for. Anyone who Capito and Manchin is against...I am for. I am JAMES DAVIS, a write-in Democrat for Governor and we need to reclaim our government and give it back to the people and we need to start bringing our state from the bottom of every bad list to the top, or above the top, of all the good lists . Manchin and Capito is part of the reason we are at the bottom and they will never allow us leave that position. Hang in there and do not let them put you under.

Capito voted with Bush almost 90% of the time in 2006, and in lockstep with his rubberstamping Republican-held congress for years.

She voted for the largest cut to education funding in US history.

Her record of underfunding Veteran's healthcare is no less than shameful. Google:

"Details of Shelley Moore Capito's Years of Shameful Disregard for Veterans' Health Care Needs"

After the WV legislature passed a bicameral bill to stop the corporate buyout and shutdown of union mines just to shaft miner's health and pension funds, (think Cannelton and Starfire), while on the powerful Republican-run House Rules Committee, Capito never let it be introduced in Congress even though both Rahall and Rockefeller tried.

Regarding her role in the price of gas, she voted against Nick Rahall's "Use It or Lose It" legislation, although oil companies have been investing WAY more billions into pumping up their own stock market than they have in drilling and exploration.

All Shelly Moore Capito had to beat was Jim Humphreys to get into office. Anne Barth has more of an uphill struggle in defeating Shelly Moore Capito. Her father was able to win public office, even when Democrats ruled the roost everywhere else.

Shelly Moore Capito had one of the cagiest political minds as a mentor to turn to for advice in West Virginia history when she first ran for office, and she had a network from her family's and her father's connections to help catapult her into office.

Barth has no less behind her, in her first quest for public office.

It is time to see if Anne Barth can rise to the occasion.

Whether they choose to address the presidential campaign issues during the appearance is their call. While the WV Presidential campaign gap is closing, Anne Barth's campaign is also trying to reach out to democrats who have defected to the McCain/Palin camp, including some who would never accept Obama as the Presidential nominee, regardless of his merits.

However, if Hillary and Anne also want to make a statement, they would also support the top of the ticket during the same event. That would demonstrate the commitment and political courage that WV needs right now, and would grab the attention of West Virginians and even the nation.

Shelly Moore Capito will have her supporters, notwithstanding how the presidential race turns out. Anne Barth needs to energize and motivate her base in order to close the gap.

Obama will win the presidency, regardless of how West Virginia votes. Anne- How do you want to be remembered when the dust settles?

What experience did Capito have before she ran for the House? At least Barth has spent years learning at the elbow of a master.

Sure lets put an unexperienced Democrat in the White House and another in the House of Reps.

Can anyone tell me what Barth has done besides rub elbows with Byrd?? Oh well doesn't really matter, Capito will ALWAYS have my vote!

Capito is easily the best of West Virginia's congressional delegation. That may not be saying a lot, but it's still evident.

She is a credit to our Senators, also.

Capito probably has never read "profiles in Courage." Her votes and campaign seems is based upon public opinion polls... That is why this country is so screwed up - WE NEED TRUE LEADERS IN WASHINGTON - SO THIS YEAR I WILL BE SUPPORTING BARTH...I DON'T KNOW IF SHE WILL MEASURE UP, BUT I KNOW CAPITO DOESN'T!!!

Normally it would not even be a question, wondering if a Democratic Senator would be campaigning for the Democratic nominee for President. Why does Vogel have to even wonder? Tells me something!
