Sparks fly at Rod Run auto show
Event draws more car lovers every year

Charleston Boulevard Road Run and Doo Wop

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Some people like antique furniture. Others like old lamps or vintage jewelry.

"Us guys and some gals, we like old cars," said Larry Cottrell as he stood next his black cherry metallic 1949 Chevy pickup.

This was the first time I attened, I must say thank you to the City of Charelston and its residents, what a great family freindly event, close to the mall so my wife did not have to listen to me and the rest of the car guys and galls talk cars for 3 days. I believe ther was at least 100,000 in attendance over the whole weekend I feel like I talked to most of them. This event was worth the 2 1/2 hour drive for me, I will be attending this event from now on. My only disappointment is I would have liked to have had better news coverage, I bought the sunday paper hoping for some sort of keep sake atricle but not much in the way of that.
Once agian thak you to all that ade this event possible see you next year.

I was downtown all three days - nowhere near 100,000 or even 50,000. No nitrous inhaling going on here but certainly is by anyone who believes these jacked-up numbers.

The show was great. But the presidential campaign has me really longing for some honesty. Maybe the Gazette could start by not printing any number they are handed.

This is not a critism of the show - once again, it was great - but inflating attendence numbers becomes one of the little lies that then have too many people believing the big lies.

Nice event. But 100,000 people is nowhere near the number who attended. I was downtown all weekend and would not put the total number at even 1/2 that.

Let's have some accuracy when talking about things like this - there enough falsehoods these days.
