CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - The West Virginia Supreme has voted unanimously not to get involved in the debate on whether the state needs another wind farm development.

The five justices issued their decision Wednesday afternoon, hours after hearing arguments that a proposed 65-turbine wind farm in Barbour and Randolph counties was not needed.

The Laurel Mountain Preservation Association asked the court to overturn the state Public Service Commission approval of AES Laurel Mountain's 1,500 kilowatt wind farm.

Association lawyer Bradley Stephens said the PSC approved the project despite a showing that the power would not benefit West Virginia.

PSC lawyer Leslie Anderson told the court the agency considered all factors, including whether there would be a demand for the power.
