MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia University has received an additional $740,000 for its Bucks for Brains initiative.

The WVU Board of Governors approved matching funds Friday for the gifts from seven donors. It brings to $1.66 million the total approved by the board.

The state's Research Trust Fund was approved last year by the Legislature. The plan set aside $15 million to support research at Marshall and $35 million for West Virginia University. The schools have five years to raise matching funds.
