Here's a look at some of the leading candidates for the Kennedy Award, which goes to the top high school football player in the state as voted on by members of the West Virginia Sports Writers Association. This is not intended as the definitive list; players are added and deleted as the season progresses. Players are listed in alphabetical order:

  • Justin Fox, Magnolia, QB - Week: 9-of-17 passing, 141 yards, two interceptions in a 9-0 win over Keyser; 28-yard field goal; interception on defense. Season: 72-of-136 passing, 1,251 yards, nine touchdowns, 10 interceptions; six TD runs; 44 PAT kicks, five field goals; interception, punt return TDs. Team record: 12-0
  • Tyler Harris, South Charleston, QB - Week: 19 carries, 112 yards in a 38-28 win over Martinsburg; 13-of-22 passing, 259 yards, three TDs; pass interception on defense. Season: 160 carries, 799 yards, 13 TDs; 105-of-179 passing, 1,968 yards, 23 TDs, five interceptions. Team record: 11-1
  • Felix Mollett, George Washington, RB - Week: 8 carries, 26 yards in a 31-0 loss to Bridgeport. Season: 202 carries, 1,330 yards, 19 TDs. Team record: 9-3
  • Logan Moore, Fairmont Senior, QB - Week: 15-of-22 passing, 208 yards, TD, interception in a 31-28 loss to University; 13 carries, 62 yards, TD. Season: 162-of-294 passing, 2,555 yards, 31 TDs, eight interceptions; 107 carries, 578 yards, 11 TDs. Team record: 10-2
  • Kam Puller, Martinsburg, QB - Week: 31 carries, 169 yards, TD in a 38-28 loss to South Charleston; 3-of-10 passing, 74 yards, two TDs, two interceptions. Season: 204 carries, 1,079 yards, nine TDs; 63-of-138 passing, 920 yards, 11 TDs, nine interceptions. Team record: 9-3
  • Cole Starcher, Ravenswood, QB - Week: 10-of-29 passing, 123 yards, interception in a 24-0 loss to Wayne; 2 carries, minus-6 yards. Season: 166 carries, 1,357 yards, 10 TDs; 88-of-168 passing, 1,266 yards, 11 TDs, nine interceptions. Team record: 9-3
  • Alex Sutton, Bridgeport, RB - Week: 16 carries, 100 yards, two TDs in a 31-0 win over George Washington. Season: 150 carries, 1,296 yards, 22 TDs; TD pass. Team record: 12-0
