Poca and Tolsia traded scores for the first three quarters but the score wasn't the only thing going back and forth.
The other was Dots running back Caleb Arthur sprinting all over and all over the Rebels' defense Friday night as Poca upset AA No. 7 Tolsia 54-42.
Arthur finished the game with 431 yards on 24 carries and six touchdowns as the Dots won their first game of the season. The totals could have been even more amazing, but Arthur had two runs of at least 80 yards called back on penalties.
Poca received an emotional boost from its "white-out'' tribute for Craig Lyle, who died of liver cancer on Sept. 15. Lyle, a revered member of the Poca community, served as the unofficial chaplain for the football and basketball teams. The team wore its road white jerseys instead of the traditional Red and fans were encouraged to wear white T-shirts.
The Dots amassed 546 rushing yards, including 91 yards on 16 carries from quarterback Jason Cuffee, who played his first game after recovering from a preseason injury. Poca outgained the Rebels 588-358.
Tolsia, however, was not without its offensive stars. Receiver Jimmie Parsons caught six passes for 164 yards and four touchdowns, including the Rebels' first scores. With the score 28-21 in the second quarter, no one had entered the end zone other than Tolsia's Parsons and Poca's Arthur.
Derrick Robertson finished 10-for-20 for 191 yards and four touchdowns for Tolsia (3-2) and was not picked off.
His 1-yard touchdown run with 2:45 brought the Rebels back within 48-42, but the ensuing onside kick actually went backwards a yard and the Dots marched 39 yards in three plays to ice the game.
HOOVER 33, CLAY 15: Dusty Belcher scored three touchdowns and Patrick Ryan threw for two as Herbert Hoover shook off a 7-6 halftime deficit and pulled away at home.
Daniel Raike caught a 3-yard touchdown pass from Grayson Hamrick to give Clay County (0-5) a early 7-0 lead, and Belcher's first TD run, a 2-yarder, set the halftime score.
Belcher's 12-yard run and Ryan's 35-yard strike to Michael Keiffer put the Huskies up 19-7 at the end of three quarters.
The Huskies (2-3) padded the margin with a Ryan 10-yard pass to Josh Jordan and a Belcher 1-yard run. The Panthers picked up another score on Hamrick's 52-yard pass to Shawn Duffield.
Belcher rushed for 105 yards on 19 carries, and Rector led the Huskies with 132 yards on 14 attempts. Ryan completed 4-of-9 passes for 79 yards.
ROANE 19, BRAXTON 6: Eric Jarvis blew away the school record with 257 yards rushing as the visiting Raiders broke into the victory column by dominating Class AA No. 9 Braxton County.
Jarvis had 28 carries in breaking the old Roane record of 202 yards, set by current offensive coordinator Paul Burdette in 1996. He scored on an 11-yard run in the opening minute to give Roane (1-4) a lead it built to 19-0 by the third quarter.

Greenbrier East possessed the ball for much of the first half, and the Spartans pulled within 21-14 on the strength of a Tyler Freeman 2-yard touchdown run. But Wenzel returned his third kickoff for touchdown of the year for the Big Reds to effectively seal the game.
Nathan Lilly led Greenbrier East (1-4) with 123 yards on 19 carries.
