Boys hoops roundup

Jon Elmore poured in 29 points as George Washington went on the road to beat St. Albans 79-65 in boys basketball on Friday.

It was the third consecutive game that Elmore has scored exactly 29 points.

Chance Blaney (13) and Anthony Dean (11) both scored double figures for the Patriots (2-1). Jeffrey Seams led the Red Dragons with 17 points and Kevic Watkins scored 14.

n CATHOLIC 68, PARK. CATHOLIC 43: Garret McCarty netted 19 points as Charleston Catholic won at home. Patrick Herlihy also contributed 18 points for the Irish (3-0), while Nick George had 12. Jake Ullman had 17 points for Parkersburg Catholic (1-1).

n BUFFALO 59, MOOREFIELD 47: Laythen Good netted 17 points to lead visiting Buffalo past Moorefield.

Aaron Lewis added 14 points and John Hodges scored 11 for the Bison (2-1). Austin Williams and Aaron Cole each scored 12 for the Yellowjackets (2-1).

n ROANE COUNTY 51, RAVENSWOOD 48: Hunter Simmons hit a big 3-pointer, and Roane County converted clutch free throws down the stretch to break a 44-44 tie and edge visiting Ravenswood.

Jacob Neal led Roane (3-1) with 18 points, and Tyler Harper added 10.  Riley Heatherington and Jake Martin led Ravenswood (2-1) with 15 points each.  

n TEAYS VALLEY 66, OHIO VALLEY 44: Jace Heller led the scoring with 20 points, and Jeriah Joseph contributed 10 points and 18 rebounds as Teays Valley Christian downed visiting Ohio Valley Christian.

Parker D'Antoni added 15 points, and Zack Moore 14 for Teays Valley (6-2). T.G. Miller had 18 points, and Marshall Hood 11 for Ohio Valley.

n CALVARY BAPTIST 58, CROSS LANES 49: Trent Spears scored 26 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as host Calvary Baptist held off Cross Lanes Christian.

Julian Fleshman added 13 points for Calvary (3-3). Tyler Corbin led Cross Lanes (4-4) with 23 points and Zach Matheny scored 10.

n PARKERSBURG SOUTH 58, POINT PLEASANT 39: Parkersburg South led by just a point after the first quarter but broke the game open at Point Pleasant.

Guard Ty Dobson had 13 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Patriots (3-0). Garrett Gilkeson also had 13 points. Wade Martin scored 11 for Point Pleasant (2-1).

n CLAY COUNTY 84, WIRT COUNTY 78: Clay County built an 18-point halftime lead and survived a tough fourth quarter for a victory over visiting Wirt County.

Chris Cole and Stephen Cole scored 18 points each for Clay (2-2), and Eric McGlothin and Noah Taylor contributed 13 apiece. For Wirt, Kaleb Bell scored 27 points, Mark Cunningham had 18 and Tristan Nichols 10.
