Prep roundup: Watson's free throws give Hurricane girls win over Woodrow Wilson

Hurricane's Abby Watson knocked down a pair of foul shots with 11 seconds as the host Redskins defeated Woodrow Wilson 45-43 in girls high school basketball Thursday.

Hurricane forced a turnover on Woodrow's ensuing possession after Watson's free throws put the Redskins in front by two.

Watson finished with 18 points, 13 rebounds and six steals for Hurricane (2-1) while Taneisha Sturdavent contributed 15 points and 16 boards. Aaliyah Williams netted 26 points for the Flying Eagles (1-2).

  • NITRO 57, RIPLEY 37: Savannah Shamblin netted 28 points as the host Wildcats stayed unbeaten. Tiffany Reavis turned in 15 points and 16 rebounds for Nitro (4-0). Sarah Williams scored 16 points for the Vikings (2-2).
  • WINFIELD 65, WINFIELD 43: Katie Bryant scored 14 points as Winfield recorded a home win. Morgan Eggleton added 12 points for the Generals (2-0). Kaleigh Barker had team-high 13 points for Princeton (0-3).
  • SPRING VALLEY 94, RIVERSIDE 53: Madison Morris poured in a game-high 34 points as Spring Valley rolled to a home win. Sarah Kelly added 15 points for the Timberwolves (4-0). Brittany Wood paced the Warriors (1-2) with 19 points while Rachael Mills added 10.
  • SOUTH 69, UNIVERSITY 44: Carlie Wilson posted a double-double of 16 points and 18 rebounds as Parkersburg South earned a road win. Keya Bartlett chipped in 19 points for the Patriots (3-0) while Katelyn added 17. Mariah Callen paced University (4-1) with 13 points.
  • HUNTINGTON 71, PARKERSBURG 47: Lacey Johnson poured in a game-best 18 points as the host Highlanders rolled at home. Jordan Dawson contributed 17 points for Huntington (3-0) while Ericka Budd chipped in 15 and Dazha Congleton 10. Kam Snyder and Brooke Kurucz each had 11 points to pace Parkersburg (1-3) and Nicole Dent added 10.
  • SA 50, CAPITAL 23 Haleigh Legg scored a team-high 10 points as St. Albans (3-1) crushed visiting Capital. India Hairston led the Cougars (2-2) with five points.
  • LOGAN 74, TOLSIA 50 Monica Mitchell had 29 points and 14 rebounds as Logan won at Tolsia. Shayna Gore netted 22 points and handed out six assists for the Wildcats (1-2). Jordan Presley led Tolsia (1-2) with 13 points and Savannah Winnett chipped in 12.
  • POCAHONTAS 54, BATH 25 Tristan Day poured in a game-high 21 points to lead host Pocahontas County past Bath County, Va. Bobbie McNabb scored 14 points for the Warriors (2-1).
  • ELK VALLEY 72, VICTORY 37 Hannah Williams recorded a game-high 24 points as host Elk Valley handled Victory Baptist. Chelsea Burdette scored 14 for Elk Valley (5-2). Emily Butcher led Victory with 25 points.

  • TYGARTS VALLEY 50, HIGHLAND 43: Jace Kyle had 23 points and Keighan Chewning 13 as the Bulldogs (1-1) earned a road win. Shane Pitsenbarger led Highland County (Va.) with 17 points.

     n WINFIELD 76, OAK HILL 67: Toby Show poured in a team-high 27 points as visiting Winfield held off Oak Hill. The Generals (3-0) received double-digit scoring efforts from Zach Fisher (18) and Bear Bellomy (13). For the Red Devils (1-1), Jalen Jones scored 28 points and Josh Jones netted 15.

  • POCA 70, MINGO CENTRAL 53: Elijah Cuffee scored 19 points and collected 10 rebounds to lift visiting Poca. Noah Frampton and Matt Chandler each recorded 13 points for the Dots (2-0). Alex Lee led the Miners (0-2) with a game-high 21 points.
  • LIBERTY 80, SUMMERS 72: Trevor McGhee exploded for 26 points as Liberty edged  homestanding Summers County in overtime. Dylan Keel chipped in 25 points and Tre McDowell scored 13 for the Raiders (2-0). T.J. Smith recorded 19 points and Jacob Lively added 18 for the Bobcats (0-2).
  • GREENBRIER EAST 83, JAMES MONROE 40: Obi Romeo recorded 11 points and 12 rebounds as host Greenbrier East handled James Monroe. Rondale Watson (17), Josh Tunstalle (13) and Ben Allen (14) all scored double-figures for the Spartans (2-1). Jacob McKarney led the Mavericks (0-3) with 17 points.
  • WYOMING EAST 64, PIKEVIEW 41: Austin Canada recorded 15 points as visiting Wyoming East outlasted PikeView. Cody Lester chipped in with 12 points and Christian Hedinger scored 11 for the Warriors (1-0). Seth Wood led the Panthers (0-1) with 12 points.
  • TEAYS VALLEY 84, REGIONAL CHRISTIAN 36: Parker D'Antoni scored 14 points as Teays Valley Christian routed host Regional Christian. Jase Heller (14), Jeriah Joseph (12), Zach Moore (11) and Luke Mace (10) all added double digits for Teays Valley (5-2). For Regional, Matt Daniels scored 11.
  • SHERMAN 65, MEADOW BRIDGE 61:Blake Brewer erupted for 21 points as Sherman bested host Meadow Bridge. Cody Muncy chipped in 16 points for the Tide (1-0). Kyle Judy led the Wildcats (0-1) with 19 points while Marvin Bragg had 13.
  • BUFFALO 78, SOUTH GALLIA 62: Laythen Good posted 20 points as Buffalo won at home. Austin Moore added 13 points for the Bison (1-1) while Isaiah Robinson had 12. South Gallia (3-1) was led by Ethan Spurlock with 13 points.
  • ELK VALLEY 72, VICTORY 62: Trey Suttle netted 32 points as Elk Valley Christian won at home. Jordan Elkins added 14 for Elk Valley. Daniel Cannon paced Victory Christian with 19 points.
