Prep roundup: Capital, University girls play to scoreless tie

Jayna Hurst turned in five saves as depleted Capital dueled Class AAA No. 13 University to a scoreless tie Saturday in girls high school soccer.

Capital was missing three starters from its lineup because of injuries. Tessa Chafin had seven saves for host University (6-3-1).

  • BRIDGEPORT 2, SISSONVILLE 2: Mikayla Oliverio scored a goal with nine minutes to go as Bridgeport battled to a draw with AA-A No. 2 Sissonville at Trace Fork.
  • Madison Jones' tally with 24 minutes left in the second half put Sissonville in front for the first time 2-1. Regan Johnson also netted a goal for Sissonville (8-0-1), which was without second-leading scorer Karli Pinkerton. Josefine Adding posted a goal for Bridgeport.

  • RIVERSIDE 6, OAK HILL 0: Ashley Hancock and Megan Buchko tallied two goals apiece as the AAA No. 16 Warriors blanked the visiting Red Devils. Kara Knapp and Hayden Buchko also scored for Riverside (5-3).
  • ST. ALBANS 4, ST. JOSEPH 1: Maddie Cogar netted two goals to pace St. Albans. Hannah Myers added one goal and two assists for the Red Dragons (3-4-1) and Audrey Goode scored once. Sydney Porter tallied a goal for the Fighting Irish.
  • HURRICANE 4, SPRING VALLEY 1: Audrey Barber netted three goals as Class AAA No. 2 Hurricane downed host Spring Valley. Abby Watson added a single tally for the Redskins (6-0). Amy Stewart had the lone goal for the No. 4-ranked Timberwolves (5-1).

  • SISSONVILLE 0, RIPLEY 0: J.R. Stricklen turned in 21 saves as the Class AA-A No. 1 Indians (6-1-2) forged a tie with the AAA Vikings. Caleb Jennings made 18 stops for Ripley (3-3-2).

  • LOGAN 51, LINCOLN COUNTY 13: Brynden "Worm'' Street carried 11 times for 143 yards and three touchdowns Friday night to spark host Logan past Lincoln County.
  • Noah Corbett hit on 7 of 11 passes for 143 yards and two scores for the unbeaten Wildcats (3-0), who host Point Pleasant (2-0) on Friday.

    Wildcats defensive end A.J. Grimmett had two sacks among his team-high 10 tackles and Clayton Marcum returned a fumble 30 yards for a TD.
