Soccer roundup: Hurricane, Sissonville boys pick up shutout wins

Guillermo Ugarte and Loran Meadows posted goals as Hurricane blanked Capital 2-0 in boys soccer Tuesday.

Timmy Hayslett recorded his second shutout for the Redskins (2-0). Capital fell to 1-1.

  • SISSONVILLE 3, NITRO 0: Dougie Harding posted a pair of goals as Sissonville shut out host Nitro. Josh Rawson also added a goal for the Indians (1-0-1). Chris Klocke made nine saves for the Wildcats (1-1).
  • RAVENSWOOD 5, HOOVER 1: Nate Schiefer and Pat Berry each had two scores for the visiting Red Devils. Dalton Gandee also scored for Ravenswood (1-1), which got five saves from Tyler Harmon. Herbert Hoover (0-1) got its goal from Jesse Weese. Huskies keeper Brett Strickland stopped 18 shots.
  • SA 4, RIVERSIDE 1: Jack Wiles had two goals to lead the visiting Red Dragons (1-0) to victory. Nate Beck and Nathan Harvey also scored for St. Albans and keeper Brian Knight stopped seven shots. Cameron Norris had the goal for the Warriors (0-2).
  • WINFIELD 2, RIPLEY 1: Steven Taylor and C.T. Douglas both tallied goals for the Generals (1-0). Winfield outshot Ripley 10 to 3. Parker Lively scored for the host Vikings (1-1) while goalie Caleb Jennings accounted for nine saves.
  • SC 4, PRINCETON 1: Jonah Cosby, Kwesi Wilkerson, Chris Brown and Derek Nelson each scored for the visiting Black Eagles and Wilkerson tallied two assists. Will Higgins scored the only goal for Princeton.
  • CROSS LANES 4, ST. JOSEPH 3: Tyler Corbin scored a pair of goals and Ben O'Dell and Kyle Davis had a goal apiece for Cross Lanes Christian (1-0). Brian Coaty accounted for all of the goals for the Irish (0-1).

  • SISSONVILLE 5, NITRO 0: Karli Pinkerton and Madison Jones recorded a pair of goals apiece as Sissonville (3-0) blanked visiting Nitro. Regan Johnson also notched a goal for the Indians. The Wildcats (0-1) were outshot 17-2.
  • SA 2, RIVERSIDE 0: Hannah Myers and Madi Cogar netted a goal each as St. Albans won at home.  Megan Russell made seven saves for the Red Dragons (1-0) while Lauren Sparks had six for the Warriors (0-2). St. Albans outshot Riverside 18-7.
  • POCA 13, SHERMAN 1:Harley Hutchinson put home three goals for the Dots (1-2) against visiting Sherman (0-1). Gracen Masters tallied two goals for Poca and Keely Shafer scored for the Tide.     
  • GW 5, SPRING VALLEY 2: Taylor Ellis found the back of the net twice as George Washington earned a road win. Kasey Rhodes, Kate Eddy, and Hannah Ellis chipped in with a goal each for the Patriots (3-0). Chase Davis and Canaan Booten had goals for Spring Valley (1-1).

  • CATHOLIC 5, GREEN. EAST 1: Caroline Dundervill produced a pair of goals as Charleston Catholic cruised past host Greenbrier East. Peyton Keener, Sophie Bumgarner and Peyton Mullen also notched goals for the Fighting Irish (3-0). Claire Gibson had the lone goal for Greenbrier East (0-1-1).
  • WINFIELD 10, RIPLEY 1: Mary and Jayne Lawman each scored a pair of goals a Winfield rolled to a home win. Josie Erlandson, Jordan Pauley, Paige Bannister, Mackenzie Pritt, Kara Songer and Baylee Womack also had goals for the Generals (3-0). Callan Banks netted the lone goal for Ripley (1-2).
  • PRINCETON 12, SC 0: The visiting Tigers defeated South Charleston at Oakes Field.
