Prep roundup: Chas. Catholic baseball clips Wahama 7-6

Ian Lough scored Connor Golden in the bottom of the seventh inning on a ground ball up the middle as Charleston Catholic walked away with a 7-6 win over Wahama at Buffalo Saturday in prep baseball.

The game was originally scheduled for Appalachian Power Park, but was moved to Buffalo because of rain.

Golden had three hits including two doubles for the Irish (18-4) while Rocco Wilcox notched a pair of hits and RBIs.

Wyatt Zuspan was 2-for-3 with a triple and a pair of runs batted in for the White Falcons (13-11).

  • GW 10, WOODROW 9: Alex Levitan went 3-for-4 with two RBIs for host George Washington. Cody Green and Joe Wong knocked in two runs apiece for the Patriots (14-8).
  • Logan Wriston went 3-for-4 with two home runs, including a grand slam, a double and seven total RBIs for Woodrow Wilson (6-8).

    Friday's games

  • GW 12, CAPITAL 2: Joe Wong went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and struck out 12 for visiting George Washington in a six-inning game at Applachian Power Park.
  • Clayton Anderson and Austin Griffith each drove in two runs apiece for the Patriots. Jacob Williams had an RBI for Capital.

  • TUG 13, TOLSIA 12: Jordan Mounts went 3-for-5 and had a game-winning two-run single for host Tug Valley.
  • Gabriel Varney and Cody McCloud each knocked in three runs for the Panthers. Donald Picklesimer had three RBIs for Tolsia.

    Prep softball

  • BUFFALO 7, MORGANTOWN 1: Ali Burdette went 2-for-4 and picked up the win as the visiting Bison defeated Morgantown. Casey Cunningham and Leslie Harris each had two hits, including a double, for Buffalo (21-5).
  • RIVERSIDE 8, FAYETTEVILLE 0: Sara Winter went 2-for-3 and gave up five hits for host Riverside (11-9) in a six-inning game. Kelsey Norris and Chelby Dorsey each went 2-for-3 for Fayetteville (5-14).
  • WHEELING PARK 11, SCOTT 1: Ashleigh Sidon went 2-for-5 with two RBIs for visiting Wheeling Park. Kayla Kimmins and Carly Greer each went 3-for-4 for the Patriots. Jennifer Miller went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Scott.
  • SCOTT 2, WAYNE 1: Jennifer Miller drove in one run for host Scott (10-16). Emily Fry had an RBI for Wayne.
  • Friday's games

  • MORGANTOWN 7, BUFFALO 6: Kelcy Shreves and  Nicole Walker each collected two hits as the host Mohigans topped Buffalo.
  • Chelsey Parkins, Ali Burdette and Leslie Harris each had two hits for the Bison.

  • BUFFALO 12, CLAY-BATTELLE 0: Ali Burdette allowed only one hit as the Bison won in four innings.
  • Burdette helped her own cause by going 2-for-2. Casey Cunningham and Leslie Harris also had two hits apiece for Buffalo.
