Emerson's first 3-pointer forced an 83-83 tie with 1:54 left and his second gave the Yellow Jackets an 86-83 advantage with 1:16 remaining.
After Seton Hill countered with Justin McCoy's basket, cutting the deficit to one point with 54 seconds left, State's Darren Jones hit a foul-line jumper to give the Jackets an 88-85 edge with 23 seconds left.
The Griffins then missed a 3-point attempt in the final seconds.
The Jackets (17-3, 13-2 West Virginia Conference) led by four points at halftime but fell behind 79-70 with 4:37 left. But steals by Cookie Miller and Bo Miller led to easy baskets, sparking a State comeback.
State led 60-54 with 15 minutes left in the game, but Yellow Jacket turnovers helped the Griffins rally and take their nine-point lead.
Fred Harris led the State scoring with 22 points on 11-of-15 shooting, and he led his team with 10 rebounds. Miller added 21 points and five assists, Jones contributed 15 points and Emerson had 12.
McCoy led Seton Hill (8-11, 6-8) with 27 points.
State will play at Salem International at 7:30 p.m. today.

Alixandria Barnette scored 19 points to lead the Yellow Jackets (12-8, 8-7 West Virginia Conference). Tonesha Members added 16 points Melissa Ford had 11 for State, which led 39-37 at halftime.
Burkes also had 10 rebounds and 10 assists for the Griffins (14-6, 10-5).
The State women will visit Salem International at 5:30 p.m. today.

BOYS BASKETBALL: Chase Fieler erupted in the second half and finished with 37 points as Parkersburg South (12-3) won the Class AAA boys co-championship at the Big Atlantic Classic in Beckley with a 66-59 victory over Woodrow Wilson Saturday night.
Fieler hit 14-of-17 free throws. Woodrow Wilson (4-10), which led 34-24 at halftime, received 14 points from Stephen Thompson and 13 from Cameron Shannon.
