WVU's Williams finalist for Weurffel Trophy

West Virginia University linebacker Reed Williams has been named a finalist for the 2009 Wuerffel Trophy, which is named for former Florida quarterback Danny Wuerffel and honors the college football player who best demonstrates exemplary community service, academics and athletics.

Williams joins 11 other finalists, including Texas wide receiver Jordan Shipley, Florida State quarterback Christian Ponder and Central Michigan quarterback Dan LeFevour.

A committee will vote later this month, with the winner being announced on Dec. 8.

Congrats to Reed. Regardless of who wins the award, all these young men are exemplary citizens and will provide quality leadership for our young people. Reed is in good company and all are winners in receiving the nomination. Another West Virninian does WVU and the Big East proud. Good Luck!
