Wesleyan (10-8-2) defeated Seton Hill 2-0 in the tournament's opening round Tuesday. The Golden Eagles (15-3 overall, 10-0 WVC), ranked No. 18 in Division II and No. 3 in their region, received a bye into the semifinals.
In today's other semifinal, No. 3 Wheeling Jesuit (11-5-3) faces No. 2 Davis & Elkins (13-5) at 2 p.m. in Philippi.
Today's winners advance to the championship game Saturday at the home of the highest remaining seed.

SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD: Reed Williams of the West Virginia University football team is one of 10 male finalists for the Awards and Recognition Association Sportsmanship Award.
The Mountaineer linebacker is on the Dean's List and was an ESPN The Magazine first-team Academic All-American in 2007. Despite injuries in 2008, Williams assisted coaches and teammates from the sidelines while giving back to the community Boys and Girls clubs, the Special Olympics and other organizations benefiting children.

WVU RIFLE: The West Virginia rifle team is ranked No. 1 in the nation in the initial College Rifle Coaches Association poll for the 2009-10 season, announced Tuesday. The defending national champion Mountaineers concluded the 2008-09 season ranked No. 1 after capturing their 14th national title.

WALKER ELECTED: Bluefield State College President Albert Walker has been elected to join the Division II Presidents Council at the end of the 2010 NCAA Convention in mid-January. Walker, who has been in the leadership position at Bluefield since 2002, replaces Region 1 representative Joe Grunenwald.
