A short field helped fuel the quick start for the Patriots, as an average starting field position of the Greenbrier East 40-yard line in the first quarter helped them pile up a 28-0 lead in the first 12 minutes.
Six different players found the end zone in the game for the Patriots (7-2), led by Felix Mollett's three rushing touchdowns. Mollett rushed for 89 yards on 12 attempts, eclipsing the 1,000-yard mark for the season. Ryan Switzer added 88 yards and a score on just four carries.
Quarterback Nick Britton was 6-of-7 passing for 131 yards and two touchdowns, finding Shawny Badger for a 21-yard score to start the scoring, and hooking up with Cody Clay for a 7-yard strike in the third quarter.
Greenbrier East (2-8) was forced into five turnovers, with the Spartans' last three possessions ending in a fumble. Nathan Lilly led the Spartans with 147 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 28 attempts. East was averaging only about 11/2 turnovers per game,

It was a damaging blow for the Huskies, who are ranked 11th in Class AA but finished the regular season 6-4. Point Pleasant (6-3) stands to climb from No. 13.
Quarterback Eric Roberts started the eruption with a 1-yard touchdown and a 28-yard scoring throw to Cody Greathouse. Roberts finished the game 6-for-10 passing for 98 yards. Brother Nathan Roberts rumbled for 151 yards on 25 carries and a score, going over the 1,300-yard mark for the season in the process.
The Point Pleasant defense came up big on several occasions, picking off four passes from Hoover quarterback Jamie Hurd. Storm Robinson ran for 108 yards on 19 attempts and a fourth-quarter score for the Huskies, who were outgained 403-172.
Point Pleasant finishes its regular season at Chapmanville next Friday.

The Raiders (5-4) stand to climb from 20th, but need a win over Ritchie County next week and some help to make the Class AA playoffs. Philip Barbour fell to 1-8.
Tyler Dolan started the scoring with a 58-yard run, and Atkinson hit Josh Wine for 34 yards and Reynolds for 21 to give Roane a 22-0 lead after a period. After Reynolds scored on a 21-yard run, Cody Hershman ran it in from 15.

VALLEY 40, MIDLAND TRAIL 14: The Greyhounds, ranked 15th in Class A, jumped out to a 24-0 first-half lead and coasted to a road win over the winless Patriots.
Quarterback Jack Simms did most of the damage for the Class A No. 15 Greyhounds (6-3), recording touchdowns on all three of his completions and adding 68 yards on 13 carries and another score on the ground. Simms finished 3-of-8 for 71 yards passing.
Marcus White added 184 yards on the ground on 21 rushes for Valley (6-3). Hunter Scarbro rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown for Midland Trail (0-9).
MONTCALM 26, HANNAN 8: Jabe Meadows threw two touchdown passes, ran for another score and kicked two extra points as Montcalm (2-7) took a victory in Mason County.
Robert Warth rushed for 91 yards on 28 carries for the Wildcats (0-9), scoring a touchdown that drew gave them a brief 8-7 lead. But Brad Wiley scored on a 50-yard pass from Meadows to send Montcalm on its way.
HURRICANE 62, LOGAN 29: The 18th-ranked Redskins (5-4) kept their playoff hopes alive in a big way as Tyler Pate threw four touchdown passes, three of them to Roger Turner.
Dustin Botsch ran for a touchdown and returned a kickoff for another for host Logan (1-8).
Buffalo, Man ppd.
The Buffalo vs. Class A No. 1 Man football scheduled for Friday at Buffalo was postponed when no officiating crew showed up at game time. The game has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Monday.
Buffalo coach Mike Sawyer said that a mix-up occurred and he was unaware that no referees would be coming until the time of the game.
"It's very frustrating since we've got to play Monday and Friday [next week]," said Sawyer. "It's frustrating for them, too, since them and their fans drove all the way up here and have to do it again Monday."

INDEPENDENCE 25, WYOMING EAST 8: Shawn McKinney ran for 137 yards and two second-half touchdowns to pace the host Patriots (3-7) past the Warriors (1-8).
