Montgomery invited to U.S. Olympic tryouts
Advertiser

Guard Renee Montgomery, the former Capital and South Charleston standout, was invited to participate in the U.S. Olympic women's basketball tryouts that began Wednesday in Washington, D.C.

Montgomery, who plays for the Minnesota Lynx of the WNBA, will replace the injured Alana Beard of the Washington Mystics. Geno Auriemma, who coached Montgomery at Connecticut, serves as coach of the U.S. squad.

In the last year, Montgomery helped lead UConn to an unbeaten season and national title, was picked fourth overall in the WNBA draft and made the league's all-rookie team.
