Boone, Zimmerman up for West Florida job
Advertiser

Winfield native Jim Boone, a former West Virginia State player and assistant coach, and Alderson-Broaddus coach Greg Zimmerman are among the four finalists for the vacancy at the University of West Florida.

Happy Osborne, the coach at Mid-South Conference power Georgetown (Ky.), is another finalist. The fourth is Bob Stinnett, a former high school and junior college coach.

Boone, who led California, Pa., to two NCAA Division II Final Fours in the 1990s, currently coaches at Tusculum in Greeneville, Tenn. He has Division I experience at Robert Morris and Eastern Michigan.

UWF is examining whether to climb to Division I, remain in Division II and add football or stand pat with no changes. The Argonauts were 13-12 under Don Hogan, who left for the Coastal Carolina staff.
