Small game

  • Squirrels may be hunted through Jan. 31. The bag limit is six squirrels a day.
  • Upland birds

  • Mourning doves may be hunted through Oct. 8. The bag limit is 15 doves a day.
  • Sora and Virginia rails may be hunted through Nov. 5. The bag limit is 25 rails a day.
  • Common snipes may be hunted through Dec. 10. The bag limit is eight snipes a day.

  • The second day of West Virginia's National Hunting and Fishing Days will be held, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Stonewall Jackson Lake State Park near Weston.
  • West Virginia's early muzzleloader season for antlerless deer will end, one-half hour after sunset.
  • West Virginia's one-day youth waterfowl season will be held.

  • West Virginia's early firearm season for black bear will begin, one-half hour before sunrise.
