- I just finished reading the editorial concerning fairness and the Fox News fiasco. I don't know who wrote it; I don't really care. I just have one thing to say: It was a crock.
- As mentioned in Mr. Kabler's article on Nov. 1 and as a state worker, I received Gov. Manchin's e-mail emphatically denying he had anything to do with the so-called "fat tax" proposal. When I received his e-mail I concluded that he not only thinks state workers are fat, but idiots, too.
- The EPA doesn't target coal companies. The EPA attempts to enforce the laws governing mining activities to keep the damage caused by these activities as minimal as possible.
- I think Gov. Manchin suffers from a touch of what President Obama has in that he is easily influenced by those around him at any certain time and says whatever he thinks will be pleasing to his audience, evidenced by his recent remarks about a "fat tax" after dining with the guy who is mocking the residents of Huntington for their weight issues.
- Whenever you hear an anti-coal person mention flattening the land, you know right then they don't have a clue what they are talking about. Reclaimed sites are anything but flat. Get your facts straight before you complain.
- During Dick Cheney's testimony to the FBI concerning the Valerie Plame affair, he couldn't recall what happened 72 separate times. Please. Cheney is a liar, flat and simple, and committed a treasonous act and a violation of federal law by outing a CIA agent. Why isn't he in prison?
- Thanks goodness for Fox News. They are the only news agency that will take Obama on, and then what does the president do? He tries to shut them down.
- As a transplant patient I understood that those of us with low immune systems would be eligible for an early swine flu shot, but apparently I was wrong. After checking with our health department and other local agencies, I find out that we are not a priority at all. I wonder what the problem is?
- People who still smoke cigarettes deserve to be made fun of.
- The state vehicles aren't the only ones [that] are being abused. Check out the small municipalities. The police/mayors abuse police cars by racking up miles and enormous repair bills, not to speak of all of the unauthorized people riding around with them just because they can.
- So what if someone does not believe that animals have souls? Why can't the animal lovers believe what they want?
- Fox News satisfies the tabloid-lovin', don't-confuse-me-with-the-facts, tell-me-what-I-want crowd.
- The federal fiscal year begins in October; so most of last year's deficit was brought on by the Bush financial bailout scheme. Cheney had said they were deficit hawks.
- I would like to know what other president in history could get away with what Obama gets away with? Is the press afraid that they will be called racist? This is ridiculous. Let's start reporting on some of this stuff.
- I hope the Kanawha County Commission gets fined into bankruptcy over the mess at Coonskin Park.
- I am so tired of parents who drug their children with prescription medicine. There is no such thing as ADD or ADHD. All theses kids need is some consistent discipline. Some say their kids are depressed -- what does a 5-year-old have to be depressed about anyway?
- Most people need a refresher course on driving. A stop sign means to stop your vehicle, it doesn't mean slow down and if you don't see another car, keep going.
- If you really think things have changed for gay people, then you should go to the store with my girlfriend and me and see for yourself. Men grab their wives by the arm and mothers grab their children.
- Here is an old but true saying: "It is better to remain silent and appear dumb than to speak and remove all doubt."
- To all those state retirees complaining about your monthly pensions: You knew what your monthly check was going to be when you decided to retire. If you didn't think you could live on it, you shouldn't have retired.
- To the idiot Republican who said the Obama administration is the worst thing that has happened to our great nation: You must have been asleep for the last eight years.
- Each time you use your credit card you increase your chances that the wrong person is going to get the number.
- I can certainly remember when the price of gasoline was below $1 per gallon. I can remember when it was 25 and 26 cents per gallon. I went to California in 1946 and gasoline was 11.9 cents per gallon. I'm 86 years old and I can remember when bread was 10 cents per loaf.
- We have removed God from our schools, our government, our sporting events and are even in process of removing it from our currency. And then we wonder why our country is in the state that it is in. Why are children so rebellious and why are so many committing suicide?
- The powers-that-be have elected to change my address again. This makes five times in 35 years. If metro government passes will I, and many others, have to change our addresses again?

Maybe they actually thought that once in a great while they would get a COLA or that their insurance rates weren't going to raise year after year. After all there was a time when the state actually cared about and took care of the people that dedicated their lives to their jobs for 30 or 40 years. Not so anymore and certainly not with this governor. The employees lived on barely sustainable living wages, sometimes going ten years without a raise, given increased insurance benefits in lieu of raises (which in later years were taken away).few in this state, the gov included realize the dedication of the average state employee. The public sees the few,the big shots and think that is what every state job is like.It isn't.Most are hardworking people.
This is the a classic example of the "I don't watch Fox, but I know what they say there". If you watch any news network that is in the bag with this Red administration that wants to remove your rights to do what you want, when you want, and how you want, your hopeless. Your common sense is screaming at you and you fall to your knees and worship at the "give it to me master!" alter of the Communist Democratic party. Will you not be satisfied when there are no jobs left and your "ruler" doles out the jobs to the "worthy"? Will you sit by and watch as the government takes over the country and decides who will receive what in the new order? Did you not see your tax money given out to the do-less cretins in Detroit for nothing? Didn't you hear what they said? Don't you see that the banks "we" bailed out are still filing for bankruptcy? Can't you see the complete ineptness in the White house
