  •   To the venter who stated that war is the abortion of 18-year-olds, those 18-year-olds who are dying in war are doing so voluntarily. They enlisted. Abortion involves the murder of people who have no choice.

  •   Our arrogant Mayor Jones is doing something right for a change considering metro government, which would be very efficient and better and cheaper.
  •   Compare the gas used by fans on a typical fall weekend for football games to gas "wasted" for one NASCAR race. Maybe we should cancel football too.
  •   When so-called patriots wear Chinese-made American flag label pins and fly American flags made in China, are they being patriots or just stupid? Each of those little metal pins and flags, paper or fabric, made in China or other foreign countries represents American jobs lost to "free trade."
  •   Liberals are so hard up for something to complain about they're still bringing up Bush's actions in moments following 9/11 attacks. What heroic action would we have seen from Obama, Clinton or Kerry under the exact same circumstances?
  •   Right-wing judges are sure turning their backs on workers and families these days. Corporations break the law, get people killed and get away with it time and time again and nobody goes to jail. Too bad people voted a Republican agenda to wipe out the American family.
  •   I think South Charleston should annex Charleston and we don't have a user fee.
  •   I wanted to comment on the prisoners picking up trash out on the interstate in the medians between Winfield and Hurricane. I am glad somebody finally got together with the jail system and put the prisoners to work. It is a win-win situation and whoever that was, I congratulate you wholeheartedly.
  •   Russia has a national holiday to commemorate their first man in space. Americans, please call and write your congressmen and ask them to make July 20 a national holiday since Neil Armstrong stepped on the moon that day and that is an achievement far greater than Columbus Day.
  •   To the person talking about game shows giving away millions of dollars, what does that have to do with the government owing money?
  •   Electronic voting has taken away the voter's ability to "write in" another choice other than what the two parties have offered. Voters have been cut off from making a third choice and we should petition the courts to throw out electronic voting machines and demand a paper ballot.
  •   Can someone tell me why Teays Valley doesn't join Hurricane or start their own city? Hurricane is doing a great job and I don't know why we can't be a part of that.
  •   To the smug individual chiming in about the stimulus checks saying, "Be glad they are making a payment for you," I'll have you know we are, and have been, making payments and they still kept our stimulus check. That is not right.
  •   The picture of the rainbow over Charleston in the Tuesday, July 1, Gazette is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen of the city. The photographer deserves some sort of reward for this picture.
  •   The problem is not racism in the rebuilding in New Orleans. The problem is a bunch of dummies built below sea level and now they want the government to bail them out. Aren't you hardworking Americans getting tired of bailing everyone out?
  •   At last I can go back to the Dunbar bingo parlor without having to put up with cigarette smokers and listen to those poor, dying people cough, wheeze and hack as their lungs slowly clog up and fail. Thank you, Kanawha Board of Health.

The person that said with the new electronic voting you can not write in. That is wrong you touch the empty space under the names listed and a keyboard will come on the screen and you can type in the name of the person you want to vote for. The main problem with the electronic voting machines is the people getting paid to work them. They come to a learning meeting before the eleection and some never show up or talk ,sleep, make a shopping list etc while it is being explained and then on election day they have no idea how to help people. The machines are a big plus ...the only negative is the people not taking the time to learn how to show the people how to use them.
