CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- West Virginia's entire Congressional delegation introduced legislation this week to create a National Miner's Day.
The National Miner's Day resolution commemorates the work and sacrifice of coal miners past and present.
Sen Robert C. Byrd, D-W.Va., said, "We owe a profound thanks to the miners who risk their lives every day to help to ensure that the lights glow brightly in our homes each and every night."
Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., said, "At a time when coal is under fire in Washington, it's even more important that we recognize the important contribution coal miners continue to make across our state and nation."
