COOL RIDGE, W.Va. -- Raleigh County police have charged a Beckley man with murder in the death of a woman in Cool Ridge.

Gerald Shulock, 48, was charged with first-degree murder Monday in connection with the shooting death of a woman on Friday, according to a news release from the Raleigh County Sheriff's Department.

The woman was shot Friday, but her body was not discovered until Sunday evening, according to a news release. Police have not released the woman's name pending notification of her family, the release states.

Officials with the sheriff's department declined to give out any further information Monday.
