CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Beckley man was arrested in Jefferson on Thursday after police found a mobile methamphetamine lab inside a green plastic tote in his truck.

Johnnie Wesley Mason IV, 36, was stopped about noon on Avesta Drive because his white Chevrolet truck didn't have the proper registration, according to Lt. Sean Crosier of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department.

After stopping Mason, Cpl. P.J. Lively could smell the meth chemicals inside the cab, Crosier said. Lively also discovered that Mason's driver's license had been revoked for driving under the influence and that he had no insurance on the truck.

Inside the cab was the tote, which contained meth in various stages of production. Lively also found several vehicle registrations in the truck, one of which was stolen in June.

Mason was charged with operating a clandestine lab, driving on a revoked driver's license, transferring and receiving stolen property, improper registration and not having insurance.

Mason was arraigned and was being held in South Central Regional Jail on Friday.

It's called a LICENSE CHECK that is ran by the officer via in-car data terminal or radio request. If he thinks it is suspicious, he can get the vehicle information shown to the plate number on the vehicle. If that doesn't match, he can stop and find out why. Watch COPS on tv, they do it all the time........
