State Police have identified an 11-year-old boy killed in an ATV accident over the weekend.

The boy, a 5-year-old girl and a 38-year-old man were on the four-wheeler when it apparently went over an embankment at Holly Grove on Paint Creek on Saturday, said State Police spokesman Sgt. Michael T. Baylous.

Baylous said the four-wheeler was headed downhill and the man was apparently trying to apply the brakes when the vehicle flipped over.

The boy was taken to Montgomery General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Baylous identified the victim as Terry Wayne Slater. The man was treated and released from CAMC General Hospital, while the young girl was treated at CAMC Women & Children's Hospital.

Baylous said the investigation continues. Troopers do not expect to file criminal charges, but Baylous said they will turn the results of their investigation over to prosecutors.

Its my understanding that the man that was driving these children was not their parent, but a friend of the parents. Can anyone say how it happened? God bless all the family, It is a tragedy to lose someone you love, esp. your own child.
