CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- With Friday's arrest of Farris Eugene Mallo, police have lodged felony charges against each of the adults who lived at the house at 1319 Frame St. on Charleston's West Side.
The adults are all relatives of the 14-year-old boy accused of killing an 82-year-old woman in her West Side home last weekend.
Sgt. Steve Cooper, chief of detectives for Charleston police, said that before the slaying, the family wasn't well known to the detective division.
"These people were all strangers to me when I met them," he said, "and I know most of the criminal element in Charleston."
Farris Mallo, 29, is accused of sexually assaulting his ex-wife three different times. He is charged with three counts of first-degree sexual assault and three counts of burglary for allegedly breaking into her house to commit the assaults.
Farris Mallo turned himself in to Nitro police on Friday.
He is the son of Carolyn Mallo and Alexander Doran and lived in the home at 1319 Frame St. that police condemned on Thursday.
Farris Mallo allegedly sexually assaulted the woman in her home, two houses down from 1319 Frame St., according to the complaint filed by Charleston police.
On Thursday, Carolyn Mallo, 55, Alexander Doran (who police say also uses the last name Mallo), 67, and Farris Mallo's sister, Trina Mallo, 27, were arrested on felony child endangerment charges because of the conditions found in their home. Trina Mallo's 6-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son were taken from the house and placed in state custody.
Alexandrio Michael Mallo, 23, - also the son of Carolyn Mallo and Doran - was accused earlier this month on a charge of sexually abusing the 7-year-old boy. He was arrested and charged with first-degree sexual abuse for allegedly striking the boy's privates with a ruler, among other things.
Doran identified his third son as 14-year-old Thomas Mallo during his arraignment in Kanawha County Magistrate Court on Thursday.
'You're still my woman'
According to the criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court as evidence in issuing a warrant, Farris Mallo twice sneaked into the woman's home and raped her.
Cooper said he believes the two have a child, who also lives in the house.
The first incident was about two months ago, the complaint states. Farris Mallo allegedly used a lock pick to get inside, then hid behind a curtain as his ex-wife took a shower.
"Next thing she knew, Farris was standing by her bed, then on top of her," according to the complaint. "The victim told him to leave but he said that he 'Was not worried about it.' ... He said he had a right because 'You're still my woman.'"

"Next thing she knew, Farris was standing by her bed, then on top of her," according to the complaint. "The victim told him to leave but he said that he 'Was not worried about it.' ... He said he had a right because 'You're still my woman.'"
Then he held her arms down and raped her, according to the complaint. Afterwards, he told her if she told anyone, he would deny it.
The second incident allegedly was about one month ago. The complaint said he again broke into the house, this time with a tool he made from a fish stringer. The victim's sister, who also lives there, confronted him and made him leave. About 30 minutes later, he came back, according to the complaint.
The victim told Farris Mallo to get out, that he was not allowed at the house. He told her he didn't care, "that he came here for one thing and he was going to get it," according to the complaint.
He grabbed her arm, then her hair and showed her three knives. When she tripped over the bed, he raped her, the complaint states.
On Saturday, police say, Farris Mallo again broke into the woman's home and began to sexually assault her. When he heard someone else enter the house, he panicked and left. As he left, he told her, "I will be back to finish it," according to the complaint. Later that day he saw the woman on the street and grabbed and bruised her arm, the complaint states. He told her again he would finish what he started.
The victim told police that Farris Mallo had threatened her with a gun in the past but that she didn't come forward because she was trying to protect her daughter, sister and brother, according to the complaint.
"She stated that if she kept quiet, she felt he would not try to harm them," according to the complaint.
More possibilities
Cooper again said that more charges against members of the Mallo family might be coming. He said police are still actively investigating the entire situation, including the possibility of more sex-related charges.
"We hope that anyone that lives in that neighborhood now feels safe to come forward if they have any information that may help our investigation," Cooper said.
Cooper said he also understands some people in the neighborhood question how or if a 14-year-old could be responsible for the brutal killing of Phyllis Jean Phares, whose body was found in her home across the street from the Mallo/Doran residence on Sunday.
"We are confident that if he's turned to adult status, the picture will become clear," Cooper said.
Trina Mallo's MySpace Web page lists her religion as Wiccan. Cooper said at this point they have no connection between her religion and any of the crimes.
Cooper also said police haven't ruled out the possibility of charging more people in connection to the slaying.
"No one specifically, but we haven't ruled out the possibility that other individuals could have involvement," he said.
Funeral service for Phares will be held at 1 p.m. today at Wilson Funeral Home.
