Sen. Clinton to hold rally at the Capitol on Thursday

Former President Bill Clinton will campaign through five West Virginia counties as his wife, Sen. Hillary Clinton, rallies in Charleston Thursday, Sen. Clinton's campaign announced late Tuesday night.

The campaign stop, five days before the West Virginia primary, was first announced as a rally with Sen. Clinton, D-N.Y., at the Capitol Thursday morning.

The campaign later announced former President Clinton will make campaign stops in Philippi, Sutton, Fayetteville, Lewisburg and Mercer County on behalf of his wife.

All of the events are free and open to the public, with no tickets required.

No scheduling information was available late Tuesday night for former President Clinton's campaign stops. Doors will open for Sen. Clinton's rally at the Capitol at 8 a.m., with the event beginning at 10:15 a.m. The rally will be held on the west side lawn by the Cultural Center, or in the Capitol Rotunda in case of rain.

Also, Clinton's daughter Chelsea plans to be in Shepherdstown today to attend an event at Shepherd University focusing on the American economy, according to the Clinton campaign.

Clinton, D-N.Y., is campaigning against Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Although Obama leads in the number of delegates needed to secure the nomination, Clinton has been campaigning heavily in West Virginia in recent weeks, making several visits along with her family. Polls show that Clinton leads Obama in the Mountain State.
