CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Charleston man led police on a chase from Corridor G to South Charleston Monday morning, according to a Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatcher.

Ezra Lambert of 719 Washington St. was charged with third offense driving under the influence of intoxicants, third offense driving while license suspended, and fleeing in a vehicle.

Police attempted to pull Lambert over at the intersection of Hickory Road and U.S. 119 after someone called 911 and reported a possible drunken driver, the dispatcher said.

The man led Charleston and South Charleston police from Corridor G onto Interstate 64 westbound. He pulled off the interstate in South Charleston and turned around near the Dow Chemical plant, then got back on the interstate, the dispatcher said. The man struck a South Charleston police cruiser during the chase, the dispatcher said.

Police finally stopped him on Interstate 64 after putting down spike strips and bursting one of his tires.

Lambert was being held in South Central Regional Jail under $20,000 bond.

btw knowsnothing your comment of good ramming the cpd unit is wrong.he was trying to leave around jones cruiser,as he had done once before in that chase.he did not purposely "ram"that cruiser, and did not continually do so as the police stated.that situation was mishandled starting from the shift commander right down to the officer firing before they knew where jones was.lack of training and irresponsibility on the shift commander to take control of the situation is what caused the end results.
