Groundbreaking Sept. 10 for WVU art museum
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Ground will be broken next week on the Art Museum of West Virginia University.
A ceremony is set for 1:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Museum Education Center in Morgantown. The building will be located near the Creative Arts Center on Patteson Drive and will be connected to the Museum Education Center.
About 3,000 pieces of artwork currently in storage at the WVU Wise Library will be displayed in the Art Museum's two galleries.
The new building also will include a university classroom and areas for research and study of art from the collection.
The museum is expected to open in early 2015. The project is estimated to cost $9.4 million.
