Beckley Newspapers' executive editor leaving

BECKLEY, W.Va. -- Beckley Newspapers' executive editor and general manager is stepping down to pursue other interests.

The Register-Herald reported Carl "Butch" Antolini will leave July 19.

Publisher Frank D. Wood said he appreciates Antolini's contributions to the newspaper's management team.

Wood said a national search has been launched for Antolini's replacement.

Antolini started at Beckley as executive editor in 2005 and added general manager duties in 2009.

Antolini grew up in Elkins and began his journalism career at age 14 as a sports writer for The Inter-Mountain. He also worked as a regional bureau chief for the Morgantown Dominion Post and Statehouse reporter for the Cumberland Times-News in Maryland.
