Riverfest

The annual St. Albans Riverfest runs Thursday through Sunday at Roadside Park. There is live music nightly, including the Riverfest Idol competition. Other activities include a car show, parade, river cruises, kids' games and fireworks.

Final Sound Factory show

Doors for Friday's final show at The Sound Factory, 812 Kanawha Blvd. E., open at 9 p.m. Byzantine headlines. Single Bullet Theory, Skincage and Last Level also perform.

DVD and CD release party

From 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Budget Tapes & Records, 3708 MacCorkle Ave., will host a party and in-store concert by Travis Vandal to celebrate the release of a documentary on him as well as his double-album release.

"Travis Vandal -- All in A Day's Work," by Clarksburg filmmaker Jason Dobbins, follows Vandal through a day as he juggles his jobs as teacher, artist, musician, coach, photographer and father.

Vandal's solo album, "When You Come to See Me," is one half live show from Taylor Books and one half new, acoustic songs.

Vandal and Dobbins will be on hand to sign copies of the CD and DVD. Ten percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Film casting call

An independent film to be shot in Beckley mid-July through August will hold a casting call for extras from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Beckley-Raleigh Convention Center. According to the filmmakers, the project is "about a fictional coal-mining town when the disappearance of a 14-year-old boy draws a miner, a lonely wife of a mine executive and a local boy together into a web of secrets."

Boys and girls ages 9 to 18, single men and women ages 20 to 60, male miners ages 20 to 65 and elderly men and women ages 60 and above are needed. Actors may bring headshots, but it is not required.

Indian classical concert

Masters of the Wind will give an Indian classical music concert at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the India Center, 800 Green Road. Instruments include saxophone, bamboo flute and tabla (drums). See more on the concert in the Community section of the June 29 Saturday Gazette-Mail.

Sara Bareilles tickets

BridgeFest

The Bridge Road Neighborhood Association will host its annual BridgeFest at the Bridge Road shops from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. The event features music by The Fort Hillbillies, a pie-eating contest, climbing wall, children's activities, shoe painting and the Taste of Bridge Road, with food from seven eateries.
