Suspect sought in attempted robbery of Hernshaw store

HERNSHAW, W.Va. -- Kanawha County sheriff's deputies are looking for a man who tried to rob a convenience store in Hernshaw on Thursday morning.

Capt. Sean Crosier of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department said a man walked into the 7-Eleven convenience store in Hernshaw at about 2:30 a.m. and demanded money. Crosier said the clerk refused, and the suspect fled.

"All the while he was in there he kept his hand in his pocket, implying he had a weapon," Crosier said.

Crosier said the man ran west and jumped into an older model, light-colored Buick. He said the suspect is described as a white male, about six feet tall with a scruffy beard. He was last seen wearing a black coat over a blue hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department at 304-357-0169.
