Virginia man arrested after pornography found in rental truck

ST. ALBANS, W.Va. -- A homeless man from Virginia was arrested after a vendor discovered child pornography in the back of a truck the man had rented.

Capt. James Agee of the St. Albans Police Department said the owner of Diamond Jewelers in St. Albans called police immediately Friday after discovering pictures of nude children in the back of a rental truck he had rented to Joseph W. Brauksieck, 32, of Virginia. Diamond Jewelers also rents Budget rental vehicles.

Agee said the rental truck was overdue, so the owner went to get it back. During a routine inspection of the vehicle, the owner allegedly discovered about a dozen printed images of nude children in the back.

"It was pretty obvious if you saw the pictures they were pre-teens," Agee said. he said the pictures were apparently in a folder Brauksieck had left behind.

Brauksieck was tracked down at a Charleston homeless shelter and arrested Friday night, Agee said. He was charged with distribution of child pornography.

Brauksieck allegedly told police they would find more images on his computer, Agee said. Police have gotten a search warrant to examine the device.

Brauksieck was in the South Central Regional Jail this morning with bail set at $50,000.

Agee said federal charges may be filed.Reach Rusty Marks at rustymarks@wvgazette.com or 304-348-1215.
