Police search for Rand convenience store robber

By Staff reports

RAND, W.Va. -- Kanawha County sheriff's deputies are looking for a man who robbed a convenience store in Rand early Friday morning.

A man walked into the 7-Eleven on Midland Drive just after midnight, showed the clerks a gun he had hidden in his pocket and demanded cash and cartons of cigarettes, according to Cpl. Brian Humphreys of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department.

Cashiers bagged up several varieties of Marlboro cigarettes while the man demanded cash from the register, Humphreys said. He also took Bic lighters and Zig Zag cigar wraps before fleeing the store on foot.

The suspect is described as a white male with a medium build and scruffy facial hair. He was last seen wearing white tennis shoes, blue jeans and a white jacket with red and black on the sleeves.

Anyone with information is asked to call Deputy B.L. Adams at 304-357-0169.
