Church activities: 3/2/13

Anniversary:

Pilgrim Home Missionary Baptist Church,: located at 7015 Kanawha St., in St. Albans, will celebrate their pastor, the Rev. Shelly A. Bausley's 20th Pastoral Anniversary Thursday through March 10 at the church. Services will be as follows: Thursday, 7 p.m., the Rev. Vincent Coleman, choir and congregation of Bethlehem Baptist Church; Friday, the Rev. Lenorris Dixon, choir and congregation of Shiloh Baptist Church; March 10, 11 a.m., the Rev. Robert K. Davis and congregation of Mount Zion Baptist Church with music provided by Pilgrim Home choirs -- Mrs. D's Gospel Chorus and the Men's Choir; and March 10, 3 p.m., the Rev. Ronald English, choir and congregation of Metropolitan Baptist Church. There will be food and fellowship from 6 to 7 p.m. before the evening services on Thursday and Friday.

King of Glory International Ministries: will celebrate its 5th Church Anniversary Thursday through March 10 at the church, 302 Delaware Ave. Guests include: Thursday, 7 p.m., Bishop J. David Stockton III of New Destiny Cathedral Top, Institute; Friday, 7 p.m., the Rev. James Jackson, Levi Missionary Baptist Church, Rand; March 9, 7 p.m., Pastor Shawn McNeil, Church of God MPG&T, Fairmont; and March 10, 11 a.m., Elders from King of Glory International Ministries. Senior pastor is Apostle Tina M. Beatty.

The First Missionary Baptist Church of Boomer,: 2793 Midland Trail, Boomer, will have its Mission's Anniversary service at 3 p.m. Sunday at the church. The Rev. Clifford Sherrod of Community Missionary Baptist Church of Charleston will be guest speaker. Dinner will be served at 1:30 p.m.

Greater Emmanuel Gospel Tabernacle Family: will honor its Pastor and first lady, Bishop Norman B. Jacqueline Jones' 15th Pastoral Anniversary March 10-22 at the church, located at 1546 Third Ave. Services will be held as follows: March 10, 11 a.m., with co-pastor Karen D. Miscellaneous:

Actor Erik Estrada,: who appears in the faith-based film, "Finding Faith," will be present at the movie showing at 5 p.m. today at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 2150 Mount Vernon Road, Hurricane. Estrada is known for his leading role in the "ChiPs" television series and the 1970 film version of "The Cross and the Switchblade." He has since appeared in numerous movies, television and reality shows. Estrada is involved in the DARE campaign against drugs and the Safe Surfin' Foundation. The film is about a young girl who falls victim to an online predator. Estrada will be available to meet attendees following the film. There is no charge, however, donations will be accepted to defray expenses.

Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church,: 2848 Putnam Ave., in Hurricane will have its annual Spring Festival from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 23 at the church. The event is a mission project to help support mission outreach throughout West Virginia and around the Hurricane area. Handmade chocolate-dipped Easter eggs will be sold and are made by the United Methodist Women and volunteers. Flavors include of vanilla, chocolate, cherry nut, maple nut, coconut and peanut butter. Orders for 1/2-pound eggs for $3.50 can be placed by calling Jan at 304-562-2053 or jrowsey@aol.com. By ordering early, requests may be made to have eggs dipped in white chocolate, if desired. Orders will be ready for pick up at the Spring Festival. The event will feature books, crafts, baked "goodies", flavorings, cards and the UMW "famous" hot dogs.

St. John Greek Orthodox Church,: 3512 MacCorkle Ave. S.E., is conducting an Easter Sweet Bread Sale. The cost is $7 per loaf. Pre-sale orders only are now being taken. Order deadline is March 20. St. Andrew United Methodist Church,: 815 Kanawha Terrace, St. Albans, is hosting a series of "Concerts for a Cause" to be held at 4 p.m. on five consecutive Sunday afternoons. The performers have chosen the cause to which all donations will go. Vandalia Baptist Church,: 1500 Mountain Road, will feature the Martin Luther King singers in concert at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The Believers: will sing at 6 p.m. Sunday at Derricks Creek Community Church on Derrick's Road, Sissonville.

 The Gospel Harmony Boys and The Laborers Quartet: will be singing at 7 p.m. today at the Glasgow Church of the Nazarene, located on the corner of First Street and Second Avenue in Glasgow. The 16th Annual Capital City Gospel Sing: will be held at 7 p.m. March 22 at the Municipal Auditorium. Singers include the award-winning Inspirations of Bryson, N.C.; the award-winning McKameys of Clinton, Tenn.; Good Shepherd Quartet, Reunion Date, Pennington Gap, Va.; and Mike Upright of Penrose, N.C. Revival:

Lone Oak Church of God Mission: will have its Spring Revival 2013 with evangelists Scott Casto and Rick Legg at 7:30 p.m. nightly, March 10-16. Special singing will be provided by: March 10, Heavens Angels; March 11, The Builders; March 12, In Him Trio; March 13, Redeemed; March 14, Joyful Noise; March 15, Family Ties; and March 16, Uncommon. The Charleston Black Ministerial Alliance Inc.: will hold its City-Wide Revival at 7 p.m. nightly, March 10-15. Revivalist for the March 10 service will be the Rev. Dr. Vincent Coleman, pastor of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, Chesapeake. The Rev. Dr. Walter Houston, pastor of Temple of Praise Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio, will be the revivalist for the March 11-15 services at Levi Missionary Baptist Church, 5125 Church St. Pastor is James Jackson. 

Special services:

Good Shepherd Free Will Baptist Church: will have a praise and worship service on Sunday. Pastor Jason C. Black will preach at the 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. services. The Langdon's will sing at 6 p.m. Prayer meeting and Youth Group meeting will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays at the church, located at 5470 West Pea Ridge Road, Huntington.

The Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Chesapeake: will hold its Usher Board Program at 4 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Walter Clay from Fayetteville, along with choir and congregation from the First Baptist Church of Lester and Mercy Seek Missionary Baptist Church will be guests. Dinner will be served immediately following the morning worship service.

Trinity Christian Church: will continue its Weekend Meeting with Wayne and June Dalton at 7 p.m. today and 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the church. Directions, from David Creek Exit of U.S. 119, pass the old IGA to Leisure World. Turn left at Leisure World onto Kanawha State Forest Road. The Charleston Black Ministerial Inc.: will host its Good Friday service at 7 p.m. on March 29 at St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church, 1108 Second Ave. The Rev. John Sylvia is pastor. The Good Friday thought is "What are the spiritual implications of the seven (7) last words, why and how does it impact our lives today?"
