TODAY:

Charleston Surgical Hospital: will offer free flu shots to adults from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its location, 1306 Kanawha Blvd. E.

FUTURE EVENTS:

Kanawha Trail Club: will meet Sunday for the third annual Harvest Moon Hike on Manila Creek. Meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Nitro park and ride. This hike is approximately 3 miles on moderate trail with one long moderate climb and descent. Bring a flashlight and a towel to sit on.

Kanawha County Association of Retired School Employees: will meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1600 Kanawha Blvd. E. A short business meeting will be held and Blizzard Boxes will be filled. A catered Italian dinner will be served. The cost of the dinner is $15 per person.

American Legion Auxiliary Unit 73: will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the post home. Bring items for the food pantry and food baskets. Carolyn and Sonja will furnish refreshments.

MountainHeart Child Care Resource and Referral Services: will offer a professional development day titled "Where Do I Sign? The Basics of Parent Handbooks and Contracts" from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Fayette County Department of Health and Human Resources, Oak Hill. Pre-registration is required. Kanawha Ski Club: will hold its first meeting of the fall/winter season at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Woman's Club of Charleston, 1600 Virginia St. E., East End. The speaker will be a representative from Snowshoe. The club's trip vice president will give a presentation about the January 2013 trip to Crested Butte, Colo. Pizza and refreshments will be provided. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. and guests are welcome. The Kanawha Ski Club promotes downhill skiing, snowboarding and other summer and winter activities.

Loved Ones: an hour-long free addiction education presentation will take place at 6 p.m. each Thursday on the second floor of the Haddad Building, 4825 MacCorkle Ave. S.E., South Charleston. The program is for those wanting to learn research-based information on drug and alcohol use, identification and effective ways to help the person with an addiction.
