By Staff reports

OAK HILL, W.Va. -- A Fayette County man was hospitalized early Monday after someone shot him in the leg, police said.

Fayette County deputies were notified that a man checked into Plateau Medical Center at about 1:30 a.m. with a gunshot wound to his lower leg. The victim, Josh Treadway, 27, of Oak Hill, told deputies the shooting occurred about 30 minutes earlier at a residence in Ansted, according to a news release issued by Fayette Sheriff Steve Kessler.

Hill was then transferred to Raleigh General Hospital, where he underwent surgery Monday morning. His injury is not life threatening, Kessler said.

Treadway identified a suspect and deputies spoke with multiple witnesses. The suspect's name has not been released and charges have not been filed yet, Kessler said. The incident remains under investigation.
