Feb. 29 flood damage in state at least $2.5M

KINGWOOD, W.Va. -- Recent flooding in six counties caused at least $2.5 million to roads and Division of Highways property.

Department of Transportation spokeswoman Carrie Bly tells The Dominion Post that the damage in Doddridge, Harrison, Marion, Monongalia, Preston and Taylor counties could be up to $4 million.

Marion County has been declared a federal disaster area. The declaration makes homeowners and businesses eligible for federal disaster assistance.

Doddridge, Harrison, Monongalia, Preston, and Taylor counties will receive federal funding for state and local government storm response, and repair and replacement of public facilities.
