Easter/Lenten programs

Lighthouse Baptist Church,: U.S. 60, Hurricane, will present "God of This City," detailing the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, at 7 p.m. nightly on April 6 and 7 and 10:30 a.m. on Easter Sunday, April 8.

Knights of Columbus, Allegheny Highlands Council 8689,: will have its Lenten Fish Fry from 4:30 to 7 pm. each Friday through March 30 at the Neil Parker Community Center of Emanuel United Methodist Church, White Sulphur Springs. The menu is fried or baked tilapia, scalloped potatoes, cole slaw, hard rolls, drink and homemade desserts. Proceeds from the dinners go to the community, church, youth and council projects of the Knights. Miscellaneous

Church Women United: will join others in more than 170 countries and regions to celebrate "World Day of Prayer" on March 2 at Christ Church United Methodist, located on the corner of Quarrier and Morris streets. Speakers will be Beulah Davis and Mary Booker of Christ Church United Methodist; Jewell Haddad of St. George Orthodox Church; Ethel Andrews of St. Christopher Episcopal Church; Gay Ellis of Baptist Temple and others. Tickets for the breakfast are $8 and may be purchased at most participating churches. The annual offering supports the work of World Day of Prayer USA and helps meet the needs of families in Malaysia and around the world who are victims of many forms of poverty, violence and injustice. This year's theme is "Let Justice Prevail."

The Nitro Presbyterian Church,: 21st Street, Nitro, will host a group loss fellowship meeting from 5:30 to 7 p.m. beginning Sunday for those who have experienced the loss of a loved one through death, separation, job/income losses, loss of health, youth, dreams, loss in retirement and more. The meetings continue for six to eight weeks and Elder Cliff Sutherland will be leader. A book titled, How to Survive the Loss of a Love" and a video or two will be used. The fellowship is in recognition of the disciples and friends of Jesus grieving their disappointment at His suffering and death and their support of one another on the Road to Emmaus and the Upper Room. The First Presbyterian Church of South Charleston's Young at Heart: will present Lt. Gen. Thomas J. Jackson, portrayed by Steve Cassel of Dunbar, at their 1 p.m. March 5 meeting in the church sanctuary, 508 Second Ave., South Charleston. General Jackson will discuss his life and legacy. Brothers in Christ West Virginia: is sponsoring a men's conference from 7 to 10 p.m. on March 9 at the Summersville Armory and Conference Center in Summersville. Admission is free and no advance registration is required. This conference is titled "Becoming A Spiritual Father." Speaker will be Dan Schaffer from Colorado, one of the four original founders of Promise Keepers. The conference will focus on the need for and process to become spiritual fathers to the men and boys in our lives. The Spirit and Truth Ministries Praise Band will provide inspirational praise and worship music. Brothers in Christ is an interdenominational Christ-centered ministry dedicated to uniting men with a vital relationship in Christ, to become a godly influence in West Virginia. Abundant Life Bible College,: 1534 Washington St. E., is accepting new students for its next course, Ministry Concepts III, which will begin from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday. This six-week course will cover topics such as relationships, marriage, the single minister, women in ministry and more. First Lady Renea Crozier and the Women With Abundant Life,: 1534 Washington St. E., will have a free event at 7 p.m. on March 2 for all females titled "The Release Celebration: When You Really Let Go; God Will Release Your Blessings." Music

Living Proof Gospel Singers: will sing at 6 p.m. Sunday at Mammoth Advent Christian Church.

The Genesis: will sing at 7 p.m. Saturday at Red Oak Christian Community Church, Red Oak Drive, Nitro. Pastors are Victor Keathley and Roy Jarrell.

Chuck Compton: will sing at 6 p.m. Sunday at Rumble Community Baptist Church.

The Believers: will sing at 7 p.m. Saturday during a gospel sing at Fisher Memorial Church, located 1/2 mile on Dudden Fork Road, off the Goldtown Exit of Interstate 77. They also will sing Monday at Lucy Wilson Baptist Church, Wills Creek Road, Elkview.

Mount Vernon Baptist Church,: 2150 Mount Vernon Road, Hurricane, will be the host for the St. Paul's Baptist Church Men's Chorus from St. Albans at 6 p.m. Sunday. The group is under the direction of Lyn Smith. A reception will follow the concert in the church fellowship hall. Members of the Macholah Ballet will offer creative dance during the 11 a.m. worship service. Senior Pastor is the Rev. Ron McClung.

The Kidd's: will bring the gospel in song at 10 a.m. Sunday at Tabernacle of Praise in Cross Lanes. They will also sing at 6 p.m. Sunday at West Dunbar Community Church.

A gospel sing: will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at Georges Creek Baptist Church, 665 Georges Creek Drive, Malden. The Harbor Master's Quartet will sing.

Lucy Wilson Baptist Church,: will feature The Believers at the 7 p.m. Monday service at the church located on Wills Creek Road, Elkview.

Marvin Estep: will sing at 6 p.m. Sunday at Parsons Chapel, Sixth Avenue.

Revival

Lone Oak Church of God Mission: will have a revival with Jerry Bonnett and Scott Casto at 7:30 p.m. nightly Sunday through March 3 at the church. There will be special singing nightly.

Special services

King of Glory International Ministries,: 513 Patrick St., will celebrate "Black History" at 6 p.m. Sunday at the church. A Black History skit, soul food dinner, heritage fashion show and more will be featured. For more information, contact Pastor Tina M. Beatty at 304-720-5994.

The Upper Kanawha Valley Ministers and Deacons Fellowship: will hold its Fourth Sunday Fellowship service at 7 p.m. Sunday at First Missionary Baptist Church, Smithers. Speaker will be Minister Lawrence Washington, Associate Minister at Eagle Central Baptist Church.

Good Shepherd Free Will Baptist Church: will have Sunday school at 10 a.m. Sunday at the church, 5470 West Pea Ridge Road, Huntington. The Rev. Doug Booten will preach at the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service. Evening worship begins at 6 p.m. Sunday with Pastor Jason C. Black preaching and church singers/choir singing. The prayer meeting and youth groups meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Metropolitan Baptist Church: will have an evening service at 4 p.m. Sunday with the sermon given by Minister Corey Lowery.

A Family and Friends Day service: will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Power House of Deliverance Church, 512 Carver St., Dunbar. Speaker is Minister Steven Reese.
