Anniversaries/homecomings

Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church is celebrating its 123rd anniversary Sunday. The Rev. Andrew McDavid of St. Paul Baptist Church will conduct the 11 a.m. service and at 3 p.m. the Rev. Shelley Bausley of Pilgrim Home Missionary Baptist will speak and the choir will sing. Food will be served at 1 p.m.

The Neals will have their third annual homecoming at 6 p.m. Nov. 14 at Sewell Valley Baptist Church, Rainelle. The Neals, The Faithmen and The King's Messengers will perform. Special guests will be Terry and Barbi Franklin of Nashville, Tenn. Admission is free; however, a love offering will be received for the Rainelle Christian Academy. Ferguson Memorial Baptist Church will host a "Fall into Fashion" youth fashion show at the West Virginia State University Student Union at 2 p.m. today. Tickets are $5 and are available at the door. For information, call 304-768-8351.

The Progressive Missionary Baptist Association and State Convention of West Virginia will hold its 10th annual session at 6:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday at First Baptist Church, 432 Shrewsbury Street. The Shiloh Baptist Church Coal Valley Road, Clothier, will be having a "New Location" celebration at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the church. Guest speaker will be the Rev. David Bell, moderator of the Guyan Valley Baptist Association. There will be special singing by the Guyan Valley Men's Chorus. 

The Father's House Missionary Baptist Church invites the community to worship Sunday at 11 a.m. in its new location, 502 29th Street. The church was formerly known as Berea Seventh-day Adventist Church.

A hot dog and bake sale will be held at 10 a.m. today at Meadowbrook Freewill Baptist Church, located on W.Va. 114 North.

Fairlawn Baptist Church will host a Christmas Bazaar/Open House from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 501 20th Street, Dunbar. Crafts, books, jewelry, baked goods, dolls, clowns, furniture, wreaths and other Christmas items will be featured. Orders for breakfast and lunch will be taken.

Greater Emmanuel Gospel Tabernacle mission department, 1546 3rd Ave., will host a coat giveaway from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on November 14. For more information, contact Yolonda Tyler at 304-343-1583.

Pleasant View Methodist Church, Fisher Ridge, Kenna, will host a benefit ham dinner for the family of Steve Ashby from 1 to 5 p.m. on Nov. 14. The cost is $5 per plate and carryout is available.

Charleston Baptist Temple will have its fifth annual Christmas bazaar and flea market from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 14 on the main floor, gym and fellowship hall at the church, 209 Morris St. Crafts, baked goods, homemade candy, antique corner, live music and vendors will be featured. Lunch will be available and hot dogs, soup and more will be sold. While you're shopping, the kids can visit with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, color, play games, make a craft and hear the reading of the Christmas story, the legend of St. Nicholas and more in the Children's Corner. Music

The Brighterside Quartet will sing at Elizabeth Baptist Church at 7 p.m. today and 6 p.m. on Sunday at The Church of God in Kimberly.

The New Joy Gospel Singers from Columbus, Ohio, will sing at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church today at 3 p.m. Refreshments will be served after the program. Donations are welcome.

The Antioch Advent Christian Church will have a gospel sing at 7 p.m. today at the church, located one mile on Aarons Fork Road in Elkview. The King's Harmony Quartet and Dewey Tanner and Friends Trio will sing. Follow signs from Interstate 79, Elkview.

A gospel sing will be held at 7 p.m. today at Toney's Branch Freewill Baptist Church, located 1/4 mile up Toney's Branch. The group Justified will sing and there will be special preaching.

The Homeland Southern Gospel Sing will begin at 7 p.m. today at Community Chapel, Big Tyler Road, Cross Lanes.
