West Virginia State Police, the W.Va. Council for the Prevention of Suicide and the Bureau for Behavioral Health and Health Facilities will sponsor a one-day conference on police depression and suicide from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Holiday Inn Express, 100 Civic Center Drive. The founder of the National Police Suicide Foundation, Robert Douglas, will speak. The conference is for officers in the state; registration is free and has been approved for 8 hours' supervisory and non-supervisory in-service credits. Kanawha City Community Center is offering a tennis clinic every Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. The program is for all ages and levels. There is a $15 registration fee per session. The center is located at 3511 Venable Ave. For more information call Dax Miller 304-348-6484.

Kanawha County Public Library now through Jan. 18, students in grades 5 through 12 are invited to take the WrestleMania Reading Challenge at all locations of the Kanawha County Public Library system. Sign up at your local library and read a combination of 10 books and/or magazines. Turn in your completed reading log to receive a WWE mini-poster. WV Basketmakers Association will have its annual convention Friday through Sunday at the Grand Point Conference Center in Parkersburg. There will be nine nationally known teachers and several basket supply vendors. This year you do not have to be a member to attend. National Railway Historical Society Pocahontas Chapter, will host the 21st annual Railfest featuring a model train show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 14 and noon to 5 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Bluefield Youth Center, 1780 Stadium Drive. Folded Leaf 1009 Bridge Road, will offer free meditation and community yoga. The meditation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. each Sunday. Various mindfulness techniques, such as seated and walking meditation are explored, based in part on the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh. This practice is open to beginners, experienced meditators of all traditions and anyone that wants to explore meditation. Free community yoga is offered from 2 to 3:15 p.m. each Sunday. Beginners are welcome. Various community yoga instructors lead individuals through a basic yoga class. Mat rentals are $1. Tyler Mountain Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor an auction at 7 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Tyler Mountain Community Building, 5380 Big Tyler Road, adjacent to the fire department. Items being auctioned include: Christmas decorations, toys, home decor, food and more.
