Anniversaries:
The City of Refuge Church,: located at 11719 MacCorkle Ave., Chesapeake, will celebrate their pastor's anniversary at 4 p.m. Sunday. Pastor Nancy B. Jones has been serving as pastor for the church for nine years. Special guests include Elder Mervin Hairston and the Gospel Lighthouse from Fayetteville. Special singing will be provided by the Gospel Harmonizers from Charleston.
Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church: will celebrate its 123rd Anniversary on Nov. 8 at the church, located on McDonald Street, South Charleston. Speaker at the 11a.m. morning service will be the Rev. Andrew McDavid. The Rev. Shelley Bausley and Pilgrim Home Missionary Baptist Church and Choirs will be in celebration on Nov. 8. Dinner will be served at 1 p.m.

The United Methodist Women: of St. Peter's United Methodist Church will have a fall festival from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 7 at the church, Parkway Terrace, 2601 Forrestal Ave. Hot dogs, bake sale, country store items, "nearly" new items and a children's section will be featured. Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church: will have a Trunk and Treat event for kids from 2 to 4 p.m. on today at the church, Aaron's Fork Road, Elkview. Bring the kids and drive-through for treats.
Redeemer Lutheran Church: is having its third annual Holiday Bazaar and Community Outreach event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 14 at the church, located off the Paula Road exit on Corridor G, one exit from Wells Furniture. Anyone who brings in at least one non-perishable food item for the church's food pantry will automatically be entered in a drawing for a door prize, which will include items from each of the participating vendors. All of the food items received as well as proceeds from table rentals will go to stock the food pantry and prepare Thanksgiving baskets for local families in need. There will also be a hot dog sale and free beverages and doughnuts will be provided to shoppers while supplies last. Vendors will include: Tastefully Simple, Celebrating Home, Pampered Chef, Premier Jewelry, handcrafted jewelry, hand-made civil war era items, hand-crafted baskets, crafts, dolls, Thirty-one Gifts, Southern Living, Mary Kay, Lifetite Metal Products, Tickety Boo Primitives and more.
The Three Mile Wesleyan Teens: from Blue Creek will sponsor a hot dog/bake sale beginning 10 a.m. Nov. 7 at Three Mile Wesleyan Activities Building. They will be selling hot dogs, barbecues, homemade baked goods and drinks. Dine-in or carryout is available. Directions to the church: Turn on Blue Creek Road from U.S. 119 and proceed straight for three miles; turn left and go 1/4 of a mile. The church is on the right. Or, follow the signs.
Charleston Baptist Temple: will have its 5th Annual Christmas Bazaar and Flea Market from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 14 on the main floor, gym and Fellowship Hall at the church, 209 Morris St. Crafts, baked goods, home made candy, antique corner, live music and vendors will be featured. Lunch will be available and hot dogs, soup and more will be sold. While you're shopping, the kids can visit with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, color, play games, make a craft and hear the reading of The Christmas Story, The Legend of St. Nicholas and more in the Children's Corner. Charlotte and Melissa Abell will speak. The fee is $22. The workshop presentation will include: What the 2012 phenomenon is; Evidence pointing to why it is not going to be like the Y2K phenomenon where nothing happened; The new astrological/astronomical energies and their impact on the shift now taking place; How the 2012 "thing" will impact us personally; and more.

The Usher Board of St. Paul AME Church,: 1108 Second Ave., will have a fall revival titled "The Work Continues" at 7 p.m. nightly, Nov. 18-20 at the church. Special guests will be the Rev. Berea Seventh-Day Adventist Church,: formerly located in North Charleston, is celebrating the Grand Opening of its new worship facility located at 216 Highland Ave. in South Charleston. Services will be held at 11 a.m. today with guest speaker Pastor Stephen Richardson, pastor of the DuPont SDA Church in Washington, D.C. The guest choir will be Restoration from Columbus, Ohio. Lunch will be served immediately following the 11 a.m. worship service. A dedication service will be held at 4 p.m. today for the new church building. Guest speaker for the dedication service will be Pastor Derrick Moffett from the Hilltop Community Worship Center in Columbus, Ohio. On Sunday, a concert will be held at 4 p.m. Performers include Ronald McCowan, St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church Sanctuary Choir, John Burton, St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church Male Chorus and "ARK" from the Berea SDA Church. The Rev. Philemon Dillard,: associate of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church of St. Albans, will be speaker for the morning worship service at 11 a.m. on Sunday at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 442 McDonald St., South Charleston.
The Rock Branch Independent Church,: located at 133 Cross Lanes Drive, Nitro, will have a special Veteran's Day program at 11 a.m. Nov. 8. The program will be in special tribute for all veterans and those currently serving to say "thank you."
