Advertiser

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Nicholas County man pleaded guilty in federal court Thursday to distributing methadone and being a felon in possession of a handgun, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced.

Jeremy Lee Hanna, 31, of Nettie, admitted that he twice sold methadone to an informant working for the Central West Virginia Drug & Violent Crime Task Force in January 2008, a news release states.

After he was arrested in May 2009, Hanna arranged for someone to go get his guns so police wouldn't seize them, the news release states. Hanna was banned from possessing guns because of a 2005 felony drug conviction in Nicholas Circuit Court.

Hanna faces up to 30 years in prison when sentenced by Chief U.S. District Judge Joseph R. Goodwin on Jan. 6.
